Question for tmonkeyuk,
Before taking the car in for the re-boot, I took photographs of the system settings and version numbers as reference points to compare with any new stuff that may have changed during the re-call.
Today I compared my photographs with the so called new version and cannot see any changes.
Could this be they just re-flashed the original software and in doing so kept the original settings ( even both drivers preferences are unchanged ).
How can I find out if something has been modified.
The only clue we have is my wife has been excellent in obtaining regular high 80's to mid 90's eco scores. Today after driving the car since re-boot she could only manage 70's.
She wasn't happy. How could this be she asks ?

- the short answer is you can't unfortunately.

Unless you have actual copies of the before and after source code to compare or can actually see a difference in the interface from one version to the next there would be no way of telling if they'd even done anything at all.
They may, as you say, have just done a re-install of the exact same software in the hope that it resolves any potential niggles.
It could also be that they did install updated software but for whatever reason no version numbers where updated.

There are various ways that developers use that can automatically update software version numbers for them, be that at code check-in or package build time, but in some cases they will rely on doing it manually and simply may not have done it.
It could also be that the software change was not in the main code base that Renault's developers are working on but in some third party 'plug-in' component they integrate into the package. In such cases it's usually common practice to still update the primary software version, usually incrementing the build number if the package has to be integrated, but not always.
When you mentioned HEVC before I commented that it potentially was an update related to a video codec, which if that's the case, it's likely that the primary software package calls this codec remotely (i.e. it's another file on the car's hard drive / storage and not over the internet) and doesn't require a new build of itself to incorporate the update. Applying the new codec could very well be achieved without the garage having even touched the main software package.
Such plug-in packages usually contain their own version information which can be obtained without needing to reference the main software at all (assuming of course that you have access to the location of that third party software) and so the garage could run the diagnostics to see which version you had installed and whether to update it even though you wouldn't be aware of that version information unless they actually displayed it within the UI of the infotainment system somewhere.

Of course, I'm as clueless as you are as to what, if anything , they actually updated but hopefully the above gives you some ideas as to why you might not be seeing anything different even if an underlying change took place.

Great answer as usual, there are little snippets coming to light but nothing major, example the eco score reductions, the radio source function had to be re-engaged on my wife's profile menu, the ambient sound setting had altered from what it had been previously.
All these things were under my wife's profile as she is the Admin account holder and was selected when it went in.
My profiles appear to have been untouched.
Thanks again though.

Another anomaly that has been evident since the re-boot is the re-generation strength has diminished.
My wife has been pretty good at getting excellent eco scores as I have mentioned previously.
She now reports her eco scores are much lower and that the re-gen strength has dropped by about one increment. By that She means she now needs to put it on the top level to gain the same amount of regen as she did on a lower level previously. In other words it is now on max more often.
Another observation, which you may be able to help with, is the battery charge indicator hardly ever goes above 2 increments of charge capacity.
Can you feed back what battery levels are normal for you.
Even after a recent 50 mile motorway trip the charge display never went over 2 bars.
As a passenger I played around with the graphics on the central screen and was intrigued to see the display visually dancing around between engine power, battery power, mixed power, re-gen assistance etc etc.
Amazing.
